Sweet Newborn Session in Norfolk, VA: The Hoags

If you saw the Hoag Family's Maternity Session the other day, then you'll be super excited to see their Newborn photos!  Didn't see the Maternity photos?  Never you fear, just click here!  (But come back to this one when you're done!)  If you didn't know, my newborn studio setup is completely mobile!  I went over to their home to capture sweet, new Abigail at just about her one week point.  With the mobile setup, we were able to capture the studio poses as well as images within the Hoag's nursery.  I just love this setup!  Here are some of my favorite moments from their session... get ready for a sweetness overload!!  I'll start you off with a few nursery details.

Fall Family Session in Fredericksburg, VA - Gari Melchers Estate

I met Zenia when we both lived in California and we attended a book study together.  I instantly liked her straightforward way of looking at life, and her drive to do things well!  We both ended up moving eastward, to Virginia, and we've caught up twice now for some family photos (and I'm so glad we have!).  It's always great to catch up with friends and to include a photo session in the process!

We started things off right away with a frame-worthy family portrait.

Woodsy Maternity Session: The Hoag Family

I'm still swooning over this gorgeous maternity session!  I met the Hoags through mutual friends (actually, my amazing neighbors!), and was so excited for them when I heard they were soon to have a baby!  They decided they'd like maternity and newborn photos, and I'm here to show you some highlights from their maternity session today!   We met on a CHILLY day in the woods in Norfolk.  These two (three!) love the outdoors, so they wanted to capture the beauty of creation as the backdrop to their maternity memories.  Below are some of my favorite moments!

Fall Family Session in Quantico - The Nowicki Family

I connected with Gina through a mutual friend and neighbor, who let me know that Gina's family was looking to have some fall photos taken of her family.  I instantly loved this kind, sweet family!  If you know the Nowicki family and are looking for parents to model your home after, look no further!  What polite, well spoken boys they have raised!  It didn't take us long to accomplish our family photo goals on this crisp, autumn morning in Quantico.  Here are the photos that Gina loved the most, and I wholeheartedly agree with her selections!

Why do I use the method of business I've chosen?

Statistics show that a staggering
53% of consumers haven’t printed a photo in more than 12 months.
    70% don't have photo albums.
42% no longer print photos at all.
We are essentially raising a generation conditioned to not print photographs.

Fall Family Session in Smithfield, VA: The Kelley Family

When I met Ashley through a mutual friend in Chesapeake, VA, and she knew that she wanted some fall family photos with a country/rustic feeling, I knew right away that we had to go out to another Hampton Roads town - Smithfield, VA - and take advantage of this sweet park!!  With red barns, water views, sweeping fields, and a vineyard, this park has it ALL!!  The girls were all smiles, loved playing with mom and dad outside, and we all had a blast!  Here are some of my favorite moments from this family's fall session.

Stefani & Alex: Virginia Beach Boardwalk Engagement Session (with ice cream!)

When Stefani and I first communicated about engagement photos on the beach, complete with toasting flutes aaaaannnd she was thoroughly open to ideas, I said "Yes!" right away (thinking to myself, "ice cream on the boardwalk!!")!  I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from their engagement session with you.

Shoutout to Francesca's for these super sweet toasting flutes (great for engagement photos and wedding photos!), and to the Virginia Beach oceanfront and pier for the great spot to chill for the evening.

The Collier Family: Family vacation tradition in Kill Devil Hills, Outer Banks, NC

At this point of the year, summer has finally decided to try to hide for a while.  Our region of the States has had a few hints of summer lingering on with warmer temperatures,  but now that we're fully into October, I think it's safe to say that we're starting to cool down a bit.  That being said, if you're feeling that chill starting to take over and you want to envision some warm, sunny beaches, I have just the cure for you with this beautiful, summery, beach family photo session!!

Toward the end of the summer, I had the honor of visiting with the Collier family.  This family has been vacationing in the gorgeous Outer Banks of North Carolina in Kill Devil Hills for YEARS.  Now, I don't know about you, but I'd call that a tradition worth continuing!!  Who could resist the call of the ocean, year after year? Not this girl.

Editing tips, updates, and newsletters, oh my!

Hi there! If we're close friends, you might know that life has been a bit busy for me, as of late!  If we're not close friends, why aren't we??!!  :)  Let's make that happen.  Anyway, I digress.

What's been keeping me so busy?  I thought you'd never ask.  ;)

Rather than merely enjoying the shutterbug life as a photographer (which is truly quite enjoyable!), this blog post happened in March of this year.   With the help of several sweet friends who spread the word on various photography forums, before I knew it, I was more busy as an editor for professional photographers than I was as an actual photographer!

-How did I get into the editing game?-

I tend to be the kind of person who wants to understand EVERYTHING about what I'm doing.  That being said, I completely nerded out over Photoshop and Lightroom as I learned both programs.  The more I learned, the more I enjoyed trying new techniques and offering to help friends who needed something done or wanted something explained.  Eventually, I started working as the "Photoshop Guru" (her title for me!) for a full-time photographer over on the other coast.  As time progressed, I realized I could take on a few other clients, and here I am, today, working with an amazing group of photographer clients and also preparing to take the Adobe Certified Expert exam before 2017 ends!  I can't wait to achieve that goal! ...
